 Essence of Abhijit Nakshatra

Conventionally, we know that there are 27 nakshatras that map to 12 rashi's and 9 planets in the universe that starts from Ashwini nakshatra (in naisargika order) and ends with Revati nakshatra. 

In terms of mapping, it starts with Mesha (Aries) owing to Ashwini Nakshatra and ends with Meena (Pisces) owing to Revathi nakshatra.

But apart from the 27 nakshatras, there is a hidden nakshatra that maps to Makara (Capricorn) rashi which goes by Abhijit nakshatra which constitutes the 28th nakshatra. 

The nakshatra's significance actually is present owing to its mention in Shrimad Bhagavatam (also known as the Bhagavata Purana)

Canto 11, Chapter 16, Verse 27

Full verse: संवत्सरोऽस्म्यनिमिषामृतूनां मधुमाधवौ । मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहं नक्षत्राणां तथाभिजित् ॥ 

Meaning of the verse: "Among the vigilant cycles of time, I am the year, Among the seasons, I am spring (Madhu and Madhava), Among the months, I am Margashirsha (November-December) and among the constellations (nakshatras), I am Abhijit."

Some Characteristics of Abhijit Nakshatra:

• Deity of the nakshatra is Lord Brahma
• Its mapped to Makara (Capricorn) rashi
  
• It spans 6°40' to 10°53'20" in the Capricorn rashi , but in terms of nakshatra, it would be 4th pada of Uttara Shada up to 1st pada (1/15th) of Shravana Nakshatra
• Key Quality in this nakshatra is Success, victory and removal of obstacles to name a few.

1) Moon is in 8Cp16 (4th pada of Uttara Shada) nakshatra and hence also in Abhijit Nakshtra as well as it fits the criteria of 4th pada of Uttara Shada right up to 1st pada of Shravana and being the 3rd of writing, it is powerfully placed in the 9th house of fortune giving him lots of fortune in areas of writing and related ventures.

2) Vrishabha (Tauras) Lagna with Yoga karaka and 10th lord of profession (Sa) and 3rd of writing Moon in close Samsaptaka (about 7° apart), also there is parivartana/exchange between them as well between 3rd and 9th lord of fortune giving him a great raj yoga in his career as a writer.

Background: Bobby Fischer was an American chess grand master and the 11th world champion. He is regarded as one of the greatest chess players of all time.

1) Karka (Cancer) Lagna with LL in 10th house resulting in a Simhasana yoga - a raja yoga of types and LL is in adimitra/friendly rashi

2) 10th lord Kuja/Mars is exalted where it closely aspects Lagna and also aspects LL with its 4th aspect.

Also, LL Moon has a subha argala (positive intervention) on the 10th lord Mars that further enhances the strength of Mars.

Note: Here, we have 10th lord Mars in Abhijit Nakshatra (7Cp55) in 4th pada of Uttara Shada which is responsible for giving him success in careers related to Kuja and Kuja/Mars is a karaka for chess, he is also a karaka for logical reasoning.
